Dear Parents,
Please note that the practice paper for Math has been returned to the girls (Paper1 was returned yesterday and Paper 2 today). I found out that some of them have been leaving their WS and books in school! I've been reminding them to bring everything home for revision a week ago and I still find some lying around today :(. I've also gone through the papers and some WS today. Solutions for the Practice paper have been printed and distributed, through the girls, for your reference (many parents have feedback that these solutions have been helpful). The class found the practice paper challenging in general.
It is important to revise all returned WS, practice paper and Process skills booklet thoroughly for the coming SA1.
A few things to take note:
1. Time management
Please move on to another question if you are unable to solve a question. Spending too much time on a question will affect the amount of time that you have for word problems.
The maximum amount of time that you should spend on each section:
Paper 1
Booklet A: 25 minutes
Booklet B: 25 minutes
Paper 2
1h 40 minutes
Qn1-6: 20 minutes
Qn 7-10: 20 minutes
Qn 11-18: 60 minutes
*At the end of 25 minutes, if you are still not able to complete the questions in Booklet A, you need to move on to Booklet B.
2. Optical Answer Sheet (OAS)
Please take note:
Use only 2B pencils to shade
Do the questions and shade at the same time (Do not complete all the questions before you shade.)
Do not leave any questions blank. Even if you do not know, shade at least 1 of the options.
(Well, at least you have a chance of getting that question correct.)
3. Empty questions
Do not leave any questions blank!
Even if you do not know how to do, write down some number sentences, which you think are correct. You may be awarded another mark or two for your method.
So, please do not give up.
4. Messy handwriting
You may lose some marks if your words and numbers are illegible (which means, I cannot read what you have written).
For example, your ‘o’ looks like ’e’ and your ‘3’ looks like ‘5’.
Is it worth it to lose marks because of your handwriting? Those of you who are usually untidy in your work, please be more mindful!
Reminder:
Booklet A:
Shade every single question with a 2B pencil.
You will still need to write down the answers on the question paper itself.
Booklet B:
You must write number sentences.
Paper 2:
You must write number sentences and word statement.
Be careful if the question is on Money (do not leave out your '$' sign... that sign is half a mark per question).
Please use the weekend wisely to revise for next week's exam.
You can do it 5Faith!
Do remember to eat and rest well.
Cheers,
Mrs Janet Chua
